
The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), conducted a Farmers’ Field Day on October 21, 2025, at the Tapaz Civic Center. This initiative aimed to equip the farmers of Brgy. Apero with new strategies and interventions to increase their corn production through the Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) Technology.
The event began with messages of support from partner agencies. Mr. Renan P. Palomo, Regional Corn Program Coordinator, emphasized the aim to educate farmers with new approaches rather than adhering to conventional strategies. This was followed by Sir Levy Legarda, representing OIC – Head of Regional Crop Protection Center, DA-RFU 6, Ms. Cherry Tyson, who discussed pests and diseases that can harm corn.
The lesson proper featured a presentation by BSWM-SWRRD, Chief Science Research Specialist (SRS) Dr. Karen S. Bautista, who discussed the ABFS overview, project rationale, and presentation of initial results. It concluded with a question-and-answer session led by SRS II, Mr. Alvin B. Arvizo who facilitated a dialogue with stakeholders and cooperating farmers.
Sir Loreto Gadong conveyed Mayor Rex Dante Palomar’s message, expressing gratitude for the government’s support and urging farmers to adopt the initiatives for their benefit. It was followed by SB Julia Cerdon, head of the agriculture committee, underscores the program’s impact and importance for the farmers.
This event underscores the local government’s initiatives in embracing innovative agricultural technologies to enhance productivity and improve the lives of its farmers.
