The Municipality of Tapaz achieved a significant milestone as it was officially declared a Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) municipality for 2024 by the Department of Health (DOH) in a ceremony held on December 3, 2024, at the Tapaz Training Hall.

The ZOD declaration is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the local government, health officials, and barangay leaders in promoting sanitation and public health.

Municipal Mayor Roberto O. Palomar congratulated all 58 barangays, the Municipal Health Office, and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) for their dedication to achieving this feat. โ€œThis recognition is a reflection of our collective commitment to improving the health and well-being of every Tapaznon. Together, we are building a healthier and more sustainable future,โ€ he said.

Key officials who graced the event also shared their congratulatory messages:

โ€ข Engr. Joemarie Eugene Gonzales, Provincial Inspector, lauded the efforts of Tapaznons in meeting the sanitation standards.

โ€ข Alejandro Santuyo, DMO IV, commended the united efforts of the LGU and barangays in ensuring a clean and safe environment.

โ€ข Dr. Leah Del Rosario, Provincial Health Officer I, officially declared Tapaz as ZOD and delivered an inspirational message, highlighting the impact of sanitation on community health and development.

Vice Mayor Romel G. Somo also shared his message of pride and gratitude, emphasizing the importance of sustaining this achievement.

Special recognition was given to the leadership of the Municipal Health Office, led by Dr. Chad Bryan Hilado, and the efforts of Sanitation Inspectors III Juvie Gevero, whose tireless work ensured the successful implementation of sanitation programs across all barangays.

The LGU Tapaz extends its heartfelt congratulations to all barangays and stakeholders for their commitment to achieving this award. As a Zero Open Defecation municipality, Tapaz sets a benchmark for health and sanitation standards, proving that collaboration and determination can lead to transformative change.
