What is Freedom of Information (FOI)?
The Freedom of Information (FOI) is the right of every Filipino citizen to access information, official records, public records, and documents and papers pertaining to official acts, transactions or decisions, as well as to government research data used as basis for policy development.
Who can file an FOI request?
Any Filipino citizen may file an FOI request. You will need a valid ID and contact details for verification and response.
Is there a fee?
Filing an FOI request is free. Reasonable reproduction or mailing costs may apply when physical copies are requested.
How long does processing take?
Standard processing is fifteen (15) working days from receipt of a complete request. A one-time extension of up to ten (10) working days may apply in complex cases.
