About the Office
The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Tapaz was established in December 2020 as the municipality's lead office for environmental governance and natural resource management. Strengthened by the appointment of a permanent Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer in 2022, the office oversees solid waste management, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and enforcement of environmental laws. Supported by plantilla personnel, Contract of Service specialists, and Job Order staff, MENRO manages the sanitary landfill, Material Recovery Facility (MRF), forest protection, environmental monitoring, and municipal sanitation programs. It also works closely with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) by assisting in inspections, data gathering, and the implementation of national environmental programs, ensuring sustainable and resilient environmental management in the Municipality of Tapaz.
