About the Office

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) is the primary local government unit responsible for planning, implementing, and managing public health programs and services within the municipality. It works to promote health, prevent diseases, provide basic healthcare, and ensure the well-being of the community through accessible and quality health services.The Municipal Health Office performs key functions such as delivering primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, immunization, disease surveillance and control, environmental sanitation, nutrition programs, health promotion, emergency response, and the implementation of national and local health policies.

The workforce of the Municipal Health Office typically includes the Municipal Health Officer (physician), nurses, midwives, medical technologists, dentists, sanitary inspectors, nutrition officers, administrative personnel, and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs). Together, they collaborate to provide comprehensive, community-based healthcare services and improve public health outcomes.

Mandate

The Municipal Health Office is an agency under the Local Government Unit of Tapaz, Capiz responsible for the implementation of the different health programs based on Department of Health as mandated by the Local Government Code R.A 7160 of 1991. It is mandated to provide Primary Health Care that includes Implementation of programs aimed for disease prevention and health promotion, and community-based health management intended for early management of common illnesses; formulate and implement policies, plans, programs, projects and activities to promote the health of the people; execute and enforce all laws, ordinances and regulations relating to public health such as the Sanitation Code; conduct health information campaigns and render health intelligence, epidemiological and disease surveillance services; and ensure the delivery of health services particularly during and the aftermath of man-made and natural disasters and calamities. facilities.
