About the Office

The Sangguniang Bayan is the legislative body of the Municipality. It is responsible for enacting ordinances, adopting resolutions, approving appropriations, and formulating policies that promote the general welfare and sustainable development of the municipality. It exercises legislative and oversight functions to ensure effective, transparent, and accountable local governance.

Closed on weekends and holidays.

Mandate

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7160, the Sangguniang Bayan is vested with legislative powers to enact ordinances, approve resolutions, generate and maximize local resources, approve the municipal budget, and exercise oversight over the implementation of laws, ordinances, and development programs for the benefit of the municipality and its inhabitants.

Mission

To enact responsive and people-centered legislation, promote transparency and accountability, strengthen participatory governance, and advance sustainable socio-economic development for the welfare of the people of the Municipality of Tapaz.

Services Provided

Enacts municipal ordinances and adopts resolutions.

Reviews, deliberates, and approves the Annual and Supplemental Budgets.

Formulates policies and measures that promote public welfare, peace and order, environmental protection, economic development, and social justice.

Conducts regular and special sessions of the Sangguniang Bayan.

Holds committee meetings, public hearings, and consultations on proposed legislative measures.

Reviews and acts on appointments requiring legislative concurrence, where authorized by law.

Confirms or authorizes contracts, agreements, and other transactions requiring Sanggunian approval.

Exercises oversight functions through inquiries, investigations, and committee actions.

Receives and acts on petitions, requests, and communications from government agencies, barangays, organizations, and the public.
