On June 11, 2024, the orientation for 23 beneficiaries of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) was conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The orientation session, led by DOLE personnel SPES Focal, Dexter Mark Cervales, aimed to provide essential information and guidance to the student beneficiaries.
OIC Mayor Milagros “Chay” Palomar welcomed the guests and emphasized the significance of the SPES program. In her address, Mayor Palomar highlighted, “The Special Program for the Employment of Students is a vital initiative that not only offers financial assistance to deserving students but also provides them with valuable work experience. This program equips young individuals with skills and knowledge that will benefit them in their future careers. It is an opportunity for personal growth and a step towards becoming productive members of society.”
The event was facilitated by the Municipal Public Employment Service Office (MPESO), led by PESO Manager EnP Stephen Faeldin and Estelita Gloria, PESO personnel. The orientation covered various aspects of the SPES program, including the roles and responsibilities of the beneficiaries, the benefits they will receive, and the importance of their participation in this initiative.
The SPES program is designed to help students pursue their education by providing them with temporary employment during the summer or Christmas break. This initiative not only aids in alleviating financial burdens but also instills a sense of responsibility and work ethic among the youth.
The LGU Tapaz and DOLE are committed to supporting the educational and professional development of students through programs like SPES. This orientation marks the beginning of a journey for the beneficiaries, who will gain valuable insights and experiences that will contribute to their future success.
