Last June 19, 2025, a significant step towards sustainable environmental management was taken with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the creation of the Aklan River Watershed Management Council. The event was held at the Marzon Hotel in Kalibo, Aklan.
The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Mayor Roberto O. Palomar and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Engr./EnP Richard T. Gloria. The initiative was facilitated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6.
The formation of the Aklan River Watershed Management Council marks a collaborative effort to protect and manage the Aklan River Watershed, ensuring its sustainability for future generations. This council will play a pivotal role in coordinating efforts among various stakeholders to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in the region.
