The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tapaz proudly participated in the Arbor Day celebration on June 28, 2024, held at Barangay Roxas, Tapaz, Capiz. This significant event featured the planting of Madre Cacao trees in landslide-prone areas, Highlighting the LGU Tapaz commitment to environmental conservation and disaster risk reduction.
The Arbor Day activity saw the active involvement of key local officials, including Acting Mayor Hon. Romel Somo, SB Member Marlon Perez, PNP Tapaz, BFP Tapaz and AFP. Barangay Roxas officials led by Hon. Michael Daned. Their presence and participation highlighted the importance of collective action in fostering a greener and safer environment for all residents.
The initiative was efficiently facilitated by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Tapaz, headed by Engr. Neriza Pacenio. Through their efforts, the tree planting event not only aimed to combat soil erosion and reduce the risk of landslides but also to promote the ecological benefits of increased green cover.
Mayor Roberto O. Palomar expressed his support for the Arbor Day celebration and emphasized the significance of environmental stewardship in ensuring a sustainable future for Tapaz. He commended the collaborative spirit exhibited by the participants and encouraged continued community involvement in such initiatives.
The LGU Tapaz remains steadfast in its dedication to protecting and preserving the natural resources of the municipality. Arbor Day 2024 serves as a reminder of the vital role each individual plays in safeguarding the environment for generations to come.
