The Municipality of Tapaz recently held an orientation session on the Coffee Project and the Enhanced National Greening Program within the Panay River Watershed Forest Reserve. This significant initiative covers a 237-hectare coffee plantation with 118,500 seedlings, planting 500 seedlings per hectare.
Four barangays have been identified as beneficiaries of this project:
– Tacayan: 50 hectares
– Lahug: 149 hectares
– Roxas: 28 hectares
– Abangay: 10 hectares
The orientation featured resource persons Gregoria A. Alenaje, OIC Centro Mambusao, and Engr. Neriza Pacenio, who provided valuable insights and guidance on the project’s implementation.
Mayor Roberto Palomar , emphasizing the project’s potential to enhance the local economy and environment. He stated, “This initiative is not just about planting trees; it’s about planting the seeds of a sustainable future for our community. By investing in coffee plantations, we are creating new economic opportunities for our barangays while also contributing to the preservation of our natural resources.”
The Coffee Project and Enhanced National Greening Program aim to promote environmental conservation, boost local livelihoods, and ensure sustainable development within the Panay River Watershed Forest Reserve.
