Captured today, September 19, 2024 is the validation of the San Julian Small Water Impounding Project (also known as Marugo SWIP) located at San Antonio, Tapaz, Capiz.
This was conducted by the team from the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) through its Soil Conservation and Management Division (SCMD) represented by Engr. Bony P. Dela Cruz and Ms. Filipina Ventigan, assisted by Ms. Jhel Giner, OIC, Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO) together with her technical staff Ms. Rachel Ceralbo and Mr. Lumar Pardola.
The purpose of the validation is to assess the watershed of the SWIP for potential watershed management programs and interventions to prolong the lifespan of the SWIP; promote Sustainable Land Management (SLM) practices and approaches; and to mitigate disasters including flash floods, landslide and soil erosion. In addition, this program aims to promote safe as well as resilient community.
The Bongbongan Farmers Association will be the proposed primary beneficiary and proponent of this vital watershed management project, ensuring a sustainable and reliable watershed for the community.
