The Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO) gathered in Tapaz for a fellowship and benchmarking activity hosted by the Local Government Unit of Tapaz and facilitated by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), led by Infocen Manager Alex A. Lumaque and PIA Francisco.
CAGPIO, under the leadership of President Rutchie Calixterio of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), conducted its event with the aim of fostering camaraderie and sharing best practices among government information officers in Capiz.
Tapaz Mayor Roberto O. Palomar warmly welcomed the participants and delivered an inspirational message. โThe power of communication lies not only in sharing information but also in connecting people and building bridges toward progress,โ he said.
As part of the activity, the group conducted a benchmarking visit to key facilities and programs of the municipality, including:
โข Tapaz Waste Management Program in Agcococ, showcasing sustainable waste management practices;
โข 99.7 Bakas Tapaz, the radio station promoting information dissemination and public engagement;
โข Incident Command System, emphasizing preparedness and disaster response mechanisms;
โข LGU Tapaz Government Center, highlighting the efficient delivery of public services.
The fellowship activity strengthened ties among Capiz government information officers while providing an avenue to learn from Tapazโs innovative programs. The event highlight the importance of collaboration and information-sharing in promoting transparency, development, and unity across the province.
