The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Kalahi Bayani Ka Awards 2023 unfolded as a two-day celebration, recognizing the outstanding contributions of community volunteers in Region 6. The event took place in Iloilo City, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region and culminating in an awards ceremony honoring dedicated volunteers.
This was attended by Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar, OIC Administrator/MSWDO Oversight Milagros “Chay” Palomar, EnP Stephen Faeldin, Information Officer/MAC, Mr. Zaldy Barnizo, Nominee-IPs Welfare Category, CEF Tim Emmanuel Vista,Community Volunteers; Mr. Randy Genodia and Mr. Valentin Getiayon of Barangay Taslan.
Participants immersed themselves in the cultural treasures at the National Museum, gaining insights into the artistic and historical heritage of the region.
The city tour included visits to iconic parks and historic churches, providing a glimpse into Iloilo’s architectural and natural wonders. Exploring the charm of old houses allowed participants to appreciate the cultural legacy preserved within Iloilo’s architectural gems.
The second day was dedicated to honoring community volunteers across various categories. Their selfless dedication and impactful contributions were celebrated in a heartwarming awards ceremony.
The winners in each category were applauded for their exemplary service, embodying the spirit of volunteerism and making a positive difference in their communities.
The DSWD Kalahi Bayani Ka Awards 2023 brought together volunteers, advocates, and community leaders in a shared commitment to creating positive change. The event celebrated not only the diversity and heritage of Region 6 but also the extraordinary impact that community volunteers make in shaping a brighter future for our country.
