Capiztahan 2024 began with a symbolic Raising of the Flag, officially opening the festivities. Governor Fredenil H. Castro, Congressman Tawi Billones and Congresswoman Jane Castro along with Municipal Mayors and officials representing the 16 municipalities of Capiz, led the ceremony in front of the Provincial Capitol, today, April 15, 2024.
Following the flag-raising, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument of the late President Manuel A. Roxas, honoring his legacy and contributions to the province of Capiz.
Paolo Roxas, the grandson of the late President, represented the Roxas family and delivered an inspirational message during the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the occasion and the importance of preserving Capiz’s rich heritage and culture.
The opening ceremony was attended by local officials of LGU Tapaz, including Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar, OIC Municipal Administrator Milagros “Chay” Palomar, Vice Mayor Romel Somo, SB Members; Hon. Aiza Exmundo, Hon. Hernalyn Pastrana, Hon. Ma Ivy Fundal, Hon. Marlon Perez, Hon. Bob Gardose, Hon. Loreto Gadong, Hon. Karen Palomar, Hon. Regina Fancubila, IPMR Hon. Bernie Tupaz, Liga President Hon. Hila Gafate, SK Provincial President Hon. Prince Rovic Gardose, SB Secretary Nona Vista, Tourism Officer Designate Sol Miguelito Jimenez and EnP Stephen Faeldin, IO-Designate. The attendees expressed their pride and enthusiasm for the annual Capiztahan celebration, which aims to showcase the beauty and diversity of Capiz and promote unity among its resident.
