The Local Government Academy recently conducted a groundbreaking training session on establishing mediation and healing mechanisms for local government units (LGUs) across the Philippines. This significant event took place from May 22-24, 2024, at Harolds Evotel in Quezon City.
LGU Tapaz was the sole representative from the Province of Capiz, joining the Municipality of Murcia from Western Visayas. The training saw the participation of Mayor Roberto โNonongโ Palomar, SB Member Hon. Marlon Perez, MSWDO Josie Cambel, and PDO IV Gelli Danielle Gelilang, CPA, from LGU Tapaz.
The pioneer batch of municipalities included Atimonan, Buenavista, Caluag, Murcia, Candelaria, Lubuagan, Pasig, Sabangan, San Vicente, Tapaz, and Taytay. These municipalities were selected for their potential to effectively implement mediation and healing mechanisms within their communities.
Mayor Palomar and the Tapaz delegates showcased exceptional engagement throughout the training. They actively participated in various sessions, sharing insights and experiences that highlighted their commitment to fostering peace and resolving conflicts within their municipality. The Tapaz team dedication to learning and collaboration was evident, and they emerged as leaders in promoting mediation and healing practices.
This training is a step towards strengthening local governance and ensuring that municipalities are equipped with the necessary tools to address conflicts and promote community healing.
