In line with its commitment to enhancing community resilience, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tapaz, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), successfully facilitated a Basic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Training with Emergency First Aid on August 19-20, 2024. The training was held for representatives from the barangays of Camburanan, Bag-ong Barrio, Malitbog, San Nicolas, and Taft.
Led by MDRRMO Head Bridgette Abordo, the training aimed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively in emergency situations. Each of the participating barangays sent 15 representatives, including members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and barangay officials.
The training covered critical topics such as managing cardiac emergencies, airway and breathing management, and responding to various emergencies. These skills are crucial in the first response to disasters and emergencies, ensuring that local communities can act swiftly and efficiently to save lives and minimize risks.
Mayor Roberto Palomar attended the training and delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and community cooperation in disaster management. He reiterated the LGUโs dedication to building safer, more resilient communities in Tapaz.
This initiative represents a vital step forward in strengthening the disaster preparedness of the municipality, ensuring that all barangays are better equipped to handle emergencies and protect the well-being of their residents.
