Elementary pupils from Sta. Ana and Taslan Elementary Schools participated in a crucial awareness-raising event today, August 30,2024, focused on child abuse prevention and the rights of children. The event, organized in collaboration with local authorities and education officials, aimed to educate young students on the importance of safeguarding their rights and recognizing the signs of abuse.
The awareness program at Sta. Ana Elementary School featured key presentations from Josie Cambel, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO), who provided an in-depth discussion on child abuse and the rights of children. Principal Jerry Farillon of Sta. Ana Elementary School emphasized the importance of the initiative in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
Representatives from the Tapaz Municipal Police Station, including PSSg Joyce Crazo and PCpl Perfecto Cabrera Jr., also participated, sharing valuable insights on the role of law enforcement in protecting children and preventing abuse. The event was further supported by Hon. Romel Delfin, President of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), who expressed his commitment to continuing such initiatives to ensure the well-being of the students.
Similarly, Taslan Elementary School held its awareness-raising session, led by MSWDO Josie Cambel, with the participation of Principal Dr. Jolly Olivares. The program underscored the significance of community involvement in addressing issues related to child protection. PSSg Joyce Crazo and PCpl Perfecto Cabrera Jr. from Tapaz MPS provided their expertise on the legal aspects of child protection, while Ceza G. Garbosa delivered the closing remarks, encouraging students to speak up and seek help whenever they feel unsafe.
These awareness-raising activities are part of a broader effort to empower children with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves and to promote a culture of respect and safety within the school community.
