The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tapaz, through the Municipal Health Office (MHO) led by Dr. Chad Bryan Hilado, successfully conducted a Safe Motherhood Workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of Barangay Health Workers (BHW) on maternal health. The workshop, held for the presidents of 58 Barangay Health Worker groups, focused on promoting safe motherhood practices to ensure the well-being of mothers and newborns in the community.
The event was graced by Ms. Theresa Gigawin Asis, the Provincial Safe Motherhood Program Manager, who served as the resource person. Ms. Asis provided valuable insights into the Department of Healthโs Safe Motherhood Program, emphasizing the importance of proper maternal care from pregnancy to post-natal stages.
Dr. Chad Bryan Hilado emphasized the role of Barangay Health Workers in promoting maternal health, saying, “Our Barangay Health Workers are the frontliners in ensuring that every mother in Tapaz receives the care she deserves. This workshop aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to identify risks early, promote safe deliveries, and support new mothers throughout their journey.”
With 58 BHW presidents in attendance, the workshop served as a platform for strengthening the capacity of health workers to deliver safe motherhood programs across Tapazโs barangays. The LGU of Tapaz, in partnership with the MHO, continues to prioritize maternal and child health through these initiatives, ensuring safer pregnancies and healthier communities.
