Captured November 12, 2024, the Municipal of Agriculture Office successfully conducted Field Validation of CPEP and Monitoring, held at brgy. Cristina Tapaz, Capiz.
During the visit, Agriculture II Jerome Jopia along with Agriculturist II Ms. Arlene P. Delos Reyes, Ma’am Rachelle G. Ceralvo – J.O, Sir Lumar Pardola – J.O, and Field Operation Division DA RFO VI 224 farmer-beneficiaries, who took part as respondents in the interview. The primary aim is to boost corn yields per unit area by implementing practices that optimize plant growth, resource utilization, and disease/pest control. This could involve using high-yielding varieties, improving soil fertility, optimizing irrigation, and implementing integrated pest management. Corn production enhancement projects often focus on improving the quality of the corn produced, ensuring it meets market demands for specific traits like grain size, moisture content, and protein levels.
These projects aim to reduce production costs by optimizing resource use, improving efficiency, and minimizing losses due to pests, diseases, and other factors. Many projects prioritize sustainability by promoting environmentally friendly practices that minimize the use of fertilizers, pesticides, and water, while protecting soil health and biodiversity. Ultimately, the goal is to increase farmer income by improving the profitability of corn production through higher yields, reduced costs, and improved quality. Corn production enhancement projects contribute to food security by increasing the availability of this important staple crop, ensuring a reliable supply for local markets and global trade.
