The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Capiz Field Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tapaz, formally turned over a livelihood assistance package worth โ‚ฑ500,000 to the San Roque Association on December 11, 2024.

The initiative is part of DOLEโ€™s Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program, aimed at providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to help families of child laborers achieve financial independence and prevent children from engaging in hazardous work.

Mayor Roberto Palomar was represented at the event by EnP Stephen Faeldin, PESO Manager of Tapaz. DOLE was represented by Mary Chris Medina and Neri Mendoza, who emphasized the governmentโ€™s commitment to addressing child labor through community-driven solutions.

The turnover ceremony was facilitated by the Barangay San Roque Council, headed by Hon. Floden Gabayaran, with active participation from the associationโ€™s president, Yolanda Unao.

The collaboration among DOLE, LGU Tapaz, and the San Roque Association signifies a collective effort to empower communities and improve the quality of life for families affected by child labor.
