The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tapaz conducted a mock assessment for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) at the Tapaz Training Hall last March 13, 2025. This preparatory activity, organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and BOST, aimed to evaluate the municipalityβs adherence to key governance areas.
The assessment team comprised DILG officials:
β’ LGOO II Ariane Kay Araneta
β’ LGOO II Marnie Gatoteo-Silva
β’ LGOO VI Vito Navarra
Mayor Roberto Palomar and Vice Mayor Romel Somo graced the event, highlighting the administrationβs commitment to good governance. Department heads and representatives presented their accomplishments, aligning them with the SGLGβs ten governance areas:
1. Financial Administration and Sustainability
2. Disaster Preparedness
3. Social Protection and Sensitivity
4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness
5. Sustainable Education
6. Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness
7. Safety, Peace, and Order
8. Environmental Management
9. Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts
10. Youth Development
Each department showcased their respective Mode of Verifications (MOVs) to substantiate their compliance with the criteria. The assessment concluded with a feedback session, providing insights into areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
The SGLG, institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11292, serves as an award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program for LGUs that demonstrate excellence in governance. To qualify, an LGU must pass all ten governance areas, reflecting a holistic approach to public service delivery.
The Tapaz LGU remains committed to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and service excellence, striving to meet and exceed the standards set by the SGLG.
