Barangay and School Information Officers in Tapaz gathered on March 17, 2025, for an organization and orientation session aimed at strengthening local information dissemination.

Mayor Roberto O. Palomar graced the event, emphasizing the vital role of information officers in ensuring accurate and timely communication within their communities and schools. He highlighted the importance of responsible information sharing, especially in the fight against misinformation. Also Vice Mayor Romel Somo attended the meeting.

Representatives from key government agencies, including the Social Security System (SSS), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), provided updates on their respective programs and services, equipping the IOs with relevant information to share with their constituents.

Additionally, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Capiz Government Infocen Coordinator Alex Lumaque delivered an insightful discussion on how to identify and combat fake news online, reinforcing the need for vigilance in the digital age.

During the activity, both barangay and school information officers also held elections to formally organize their respective groups, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration in future initiatives.
